"The human body is so incredible at signaling when it needs something. But we have all learned to ignore those signals as much as possible because they're a threat to our productivity and our focus at work."
Devon Price
I’ll get back to the quote.
For now, let’s talk September.
I published outdoors club, huh, mmh, and aeyo this past month.
In the process of building every single one of those creative masterpieces (yes I like my writing too :), I questioned myself because half of what I felt like building off of was something I’d built off of before.
To sum it all into a simple sentence:
This month was beautifully original but oddly familiar.
While I may have started something I’d never done before (hint hint, this cool little thing called TKS), it was something that’d always been a part of my life, particularly because my friends had done it all of last year.
While I may have talked to a ton of people this month in informal BrainDates, I’ve always been a talker, so it’s not like I did something totally out of the ordinary.
And while I messed around with the prompts and built a ton of essays for stanny, it’s not like I hadn’t been working on my personal statement all of the past couple of months.
“But Ariv, nothing on this list sounds oddly familiar, I just think you’re making them sound like they are because you’re trying to be a really cool writer person and stuff.”
TO THAT I SAY yeah you’re probably right.
So let’s move on to what actually happened.
I Learnt a Lot of New Stuff
The world is cool.
Number 1: AI
I still can’t really perfectly amazingly explain it to you, but I can explain it to you pretty well.
Planning on writing something that explains it to you pretty well, so if I don’t get sick again (spoiler alert newcomers), stay tuned.
Number 2: Blockchain
Finally figured out how Bitcoin works. I thought I understood it after being obsessed with it a while back (SEE oddly familiar!), but now I do. Turns out it’s all about it’s PoW system, and because I still can’t explain that one perfectly (trust me I tried telling my parents), I’m gonna figure out how to and write something for you soon.
Number 3: Brain Computer Interfaces
NOW THIS IS COOL.
So apparently our brains are gonna be able to connect to computers and be able to read and write things to our neurons (the things that make our brain work). Kind of wild stuff, and kind of something I still need to know more about too.
As you can tell, me is Steve Wozniak now.
Actually, I need to do a deeper dive in these things I just talked about above for me to become Steve Wozniak.
TKS has these Focuses that get us to do just that…
I Got Sick
I’ve gotten sick twice in the past four weeks.
I haven’t gotten sick in the past four years.
I’ve been out of school since Saturday and as of the time of the release of this piece, the hope is I would’ve just finished up my first day back.
But dang.
Annoying huh.
Here’s my theory:
The immune system is a boxer that needs training to stay strong. Staying at home in the company of the same 3 people made my immune system complacent. Getting back to school combined with my overworking myself led to an immunocompromization (yes I made up that word) of my body.
So here we are.
The Taking Away
I NEED TO STOP.
Stop trying to fit so much in so little.
I NEED TO OPTIMIZE.
To optimize for happiness instead of productivity.
I NEED TO BE.
Alive.
Next Month’s Goals
I. Honestly. Don’t. Know.
I know, “make them dude,” but I’m gonna try something different this month.
You see those takeaways above this? Good.
I’m gonna follow those.
Those are my goals.
Everything else will happen contingent on their success.
Let’s try and work really hard… on my life.
It matters above everything else.
I know that.
I talk about it a lot.
I just gotta do it.
So let’s… be the opposite of the embodiment of that quote.
I told you I’d get back to it.
no but i love this actually so fun
